I have been in radio Frequency / two way radio / amateur radio industries for about 30 years.

electronics has been my hobby.   and later truned into job.

I have been working for companies who are electronis manufacture , I have been doing some design work for them.  mostly Radio frequency below 1GHz.

Radio frequency less than 1GHz are old technology.   technology they no longer even teach at much of University in USA.

those frequency design are developed before or during WW2 , may be a little bit later.

and I often do design directional finding receiver for wildlife , finding person,  those transmitter are so small, and it have to be weight less than several gram , sometime less than 1 gram including battery and everything else.

even with todays technology making transmitter in such small size and make it last several months are very difficult.

so , what we do,  we went back to older design often designed for Vacuum tube , which are quite simple circuit.

and we make them with moden transistor.  

I started learning electronics by experiment and attempt to doing repair.

where I came from, we have trash collecting place, where only electronics can be thrown away.   I used to go there pick up many electronics, many of them have minor problem and small repair was necessary to make it back to work again.    some of them are difficult repair.   I had books of transistor, IC datasheet.  so  I start to trace PC Board, and creating schematic from PC board.   and understand the how circuit works, and repair it.

this experience help me considerbly, later when I start to layout my own PC board. 

as well as,  did amateur radio repair, two way radio repair , which also taught me how RF circuit should be build.
