Throttle Body Cleaning

================================================================

The Car start to have rough Idle , it almost sound like misfire only during idling, and when car come to stop ( when engine RPM become idle while in [D] range ).

some where on you tube video I think  "Eric the car guy" on youtube  said many of such problem come from dirty throlle Body, since newer car like 2014 Subaru Forester 2.5i only control idle using single throttle valve, unlike older model had seperate Idle Control Valve.  so it is important to keep Throttle Body Clean.

================================================================

as unticipated , Subaru Forester 2014 with 120 k miles was dirty.

View from Intake Air filter side. ( out of focus )

there are a lot of black sooth like substance attach to outside wall of Throttle Body and Valve itself.

There were 4 bolts like this holding Aluminium Throttle Body

There were 2 Flexible Rubber Hose connected to Aluminium Throle Body, but I did not disconnect those.

according to Service Manual, those 2 hoses are ( pre heater ) hose.

I was afraid, if I disconnect those hose, Engine Coolant leaked out. And I did not want to drain engine coolant.

I removed Intake plastic parts looks like this which connect from Air filter unit to Aluminium Throttle Body.

It had 1 Rubber Hose connection which I had to move.

connetion to Air filter and Throttle Body was connected with Hose clamps.

Aluminium Throttle Body had a electrical connector to control Servo Motor, It was easily removed by pressing Tab on Side.

Two Pre-Heater Hose , I did not disconnect.

I used ( Carburetor Cleaner ) like this to clean Dirty Aluminium Throttle Body and its Valve.

First I used Ethyl Alcohol , but it did not clean, so I used this chemical.  And it cleaned very well.

as soon as Carburetor cleaner fluid contact with Dirty Throttle Body, it dissolved the black gunk attach to Thrrole Body.

After cleaning Aluminium Throttle Body,  Engine Idle become like When car was new.

No more rough Idle , when in [D] while stop.
